But then a third one came.
There was snot. Audible snot. It didn’t even sound like a sneeze, it sounded like a wet crunch. And under that wet crunch, was a raspy, devilish noise, prolonged and agonizing. It was loud, too. Cut right through the previously untouched silence of the room. It hurt so much. Mentally and spiritually as much as it did physically.
